What We Install
METOD Base & Wall Units
We offer full assembly and installation of IKEA METOD cabinets. They can be wall-mounted and floor-standing. They will be levelled and secured with proper wall fixings.
Worktop Fitting
Cutting and fitting IKEA laminate worktops, or templating for stone and solid wood alternatives — joins, cutouts, and end panels included.
Appliance Integration
We will help with integration of your IKEA or third-party oven, hob, extractor and dishwasher. Your fridge-freezer fitted flush and operational within the cabinet run.
Sink & Plumbing
Urban Kitchens will take care about IKEA sink and tap installation, waste connection, and isolation valves. You don’t need to book IKEA Home Services return visit for that.
Electrical Work
IKEA OMLOPP and UTRUSTA lighting wired in, plus hob and oven circuits. All done by Urban Kitchens as a part of installation. Everything will be part P compliant, certificated, and ready for inspection.

Why Not Just Use IKEA Home Services?
Everyone knows that IKEA offers their own installation service. However, not everyone is aware that it is subcontracted to a network of independent fitters. Their lead times are usually 4 to 8 weeks from purchase of your Ikea Kitchen. The fitter assigned is not chosen by you. Availability is strictly tied to IKEA’s booking system rather than your project schedule. Finishing an IKEA kitchen the original fitter left as a dry fit
The customer had bought an IKEA kitchen and booked an installer. The cabinets went in. Then the installer pulled out. What was left was a dry fit: units on the floor and wall, worktops and splashback panels still stacked in the room, no sink, no hob and no running water. It was half term, with a family at home trying to cook in a kitchen that didn’t work.
They messaged us on WhatsApp on a Thursday evening. By the following Monday evening the worktops, splashbacks and sink were in.
Before: what the photos showed us
Why it wasn’t just a worktop job
The photos and a quick video showed more than a missing worktop. The old tiles had been stripped from behind the hob, leaving rough, uneven plaster. A run of copper pipes crossed the wall at worktop height. Fresh cable channels had been cut and never filled. And the window sill needed an upstand to finish it off. Fit a splashback onto that and it won’t sit flat, or stay on.
Walls first, even when you’re in a hurry
The customer understandably asked if we could fit the worktops first and sort the walls afterwards. We said no, and explained why. Plaster dust and filler can stain a new worktop. Whoever levels the wall ends up leaning on it. And a worktop is fitted to the wall line, so if the wall changes afterwards, the joint opens up and has to be redone. So we rearranged our week to get the walls levelled first, then came back to fit everything properly.
What we did
- Levelled and prepared the walls behind the hob and along the splashback runs
- Boxed in the exposed pipework
- Cut and fitted four worktops, including the hob and sink cut-outs
- Fitted three worktop-matching splashbacks, with cut-outs for the sockets, and the window upstand
- Connected the sink and the water filter
The customer’s own electrician and Gas Safe engineer handled the hob connection and sockets, which is fine by us. We’ll work alongside your trades or bring our own.

- Delivery to Site — IKEA usually delivers to your address directly. Our team will check the delivery against the plan. If there are any missing or damaged items before installation starts – we will flag it out.
- First Fix — If required we can help you with wall preparation, marking out, service routing, and structural work. This will be completed by our team before cabinets are assembled.
- Cabinet Installation — METOD units assembled, installed, and levelled. Appliances integrated by Urban Kitchens. Worktops cut and fitted.
- Finishing & Handover — We will make sure that: Doors hung, drawers aligned, plinths and cornices fitted. Full snagging completed before we leave the site.

Do I need to assemble the IKEA cabinets before you arrive?
No. Leave the flat-pack boxes as they are. Our team assembles and install everything on site. Pre-assembled cabinets are often assembled incorrectly or damaged in the process. That’s why we prefer to start from scratch with the flat-pack.
Can you work with any IKEA kitchen range?
Absolutely. We install all current IKEA METOD kitchen ranges including BODBYN, AXSTAD, VOXTORP, KUNGSBACKA, RINGHULT, and LERHYTTAN door fronts, as well as older IKEA systems we see regularly in London refits.
What if parts are missing or damaged on delivery?
We check the delivery of your IKEA order before we start our part of work. Missing or damaged components are reported immediately. IKEA replaces individual items free of charge, and we reschedule the affected part of the installation around the replacement delivery.
How long does IKEA kitchen installation take?
A standard IKEA kitchen installation in London takes 3 to 5 days. Kitchens with complex layouts, island units, or full first-fix requirements may take up to a week.
