Professional Kitchen Fitters for London Homes

Most people spend weeks, and sometimes even months, choosing a kitchen. The layout, the style of the cupboard doors, the worktop, the handles — all of this is carefully considered, usually with a designer at a showroom. Then the kitchen is delivered, and the question that actually determines how everything will turn out is asked almost in passing: who will fit it?

Kitchen Installations in London

We are a London-based fitting company that installs kitchens from virtually all the leading brands sold in the UK, as well as bespoke kitchens and those made by independent manufacturers. We don’t sell kitchens ourselves — just install them properly, regardless of where they come from.

This distinction matters more than it might seem at first glance. A retailer’s in-house fitting team is focused on fitting their own products to their own standards. An independent fitter has seen enough different brands and levels of build quality to give you an honest answer about what you actually need, what usually goes wrong, and what a fair price is.

Complete Kitchen Installation Services

A complete kitchen fit-out involves much more than people sometimes realise. It’s not just a matter of screwing cupboards to the wall. The work usually includes dismantling the old kitchen, assembling the cupboards, and installing wall units, base units, tall units and chests of drawers, as well as kitchen islands and bar counters, if these are included in the design.

Next come all the small details that make the kitchen look not just installed, but finished — end panels, blanking plugs, skirting boards, cornices and pelmets. Preparation and installation of the worktop. Fitting of built-in appliances to ensure that ovens, hobs, extractor hoods, fridges and dishwashers are installed level and operate correctly. Installation of the sink and tap. And the final stage — rectifying any issues and making adjustments, during which doors are levelled, drawers are checked, and anything that isn’t quite right is fixed before we leave.

Depending on the scale of the project, qualified specialists are often required to carry out plumbing and electrical work, connect the gas supply and produce templates for stone worktops. We coordinate this work as part of the overall project, rather than leaving you to find contractors and organise the work schedule yourself.

The sequence of works is an aspect that is easily underestimated. Fitting a kitchen involves not just one task but several, which must be carried out in a specific order. Usually, the plumbing and electrical wiring need to be prepared before the cabinets are fitted. The cabinets must be fully levelled and secured before the template for the worktop is made. Tiling, in almost all cases, should take place after the cabinets have been fitted — the tiles should be laid beneath the cabinets, not the other way round.

Kitchen Brands We Install

We aren’t tied to any particular manufacturer, which means that our installation recommendations are generally more objective than those you would receive from a brand’s own installation team. Here is a brief overview of how the installation process differs across the various brands we work with most frequently.

🔵 Wren Kitchen Installation

Kitchens by Wren are beautifully crafted, but it’s important to adhere to the fitting tolerances, particularly with the Infinity and Infinity Plus collections, where the cabinet design differs slightly from the standard ranges. We install many Wren kitchens across London — if you’ve ordered one, we recommend reading our Wren installation guide.

🔵 IKEA Kitchen Fitting

IKEA’s METOD series is certainly good value for money, but assembling it turns out to be more complicated than people expect. The internal fixing system requires all components to be aligned and positioned at right angles, starting from the very first unit. If the first cupboard is fitted incorrectly, the error will cascade down the line. IKEA worktops and panels also often have slightly different dimensions to those of British brands, so replacements from another manufacturer are sometimes not as straightforward as they appear.

🔵 Installation of Howdens Kitchens

Howdens focuses on working with contractors, which means that most of its kitchens are installed by builders and tradespeople rather than specialist kitchen fitters. The details specific to kitchens — aligning doors, joining worktops, and fitting appliances — are sometimes seen as secondary to the general building work. We are often brought in either as the lead fitter or to carry out the finishing touches once the building work is complete.

🔵 Fitting of German and Italian Kitchens

Brands such as Nobilia, Häcker, Schüller, Nolte, Leicht, Rotpunkt and Pronorm use precision technologies that are truly a step ahead of British flat-pack systems — but this precision demands a corresponding standard of installation. The hinges, soft-close mechanisms and internal fittings in German kitchens are often more sensitive to incorrect installation than their British counterparts. If done correctly, these kitchens feel noticeably sturdier. Get it wrong, and you’ll lose a significant portion of what you’ve paid for.

🔵 Magnet, Benchmarx and Other Brands

Magnet occupies a niche similar to that of Wren — flat-pack designs, a broad consumer base, and a fairly wide product range across both budget and premium lines. Benchmarx, Wickes and B&Q follow a similar model. The installation requirements for this group are generally similar: check for levelness, verify the perpendicularity of lines, and take time over the finishing details. The differences usually lie in the small print describing the internal construction of the cupboards.

🔵 Bespoke and Independent Kitchen Installation

We also install kitchens from independent furniture manufacturers and bespoke producers, as well as from brands such as Symphony, Mereway, Masterclass, Crown Imperial, Second Nature, Daval and Neptune. Custom-made kitchens vary enormously in their design, so this work usually requires a more personalised approach. There is no standard installation process, as every kitchen is built differently.

Areas of London We Serve

Our team installs kitchens throughout London. The main areas where we carry out projects include West London — Chiswick, Ealing, Acton, Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush and Fulham — and Central London, covering Chelsea, Kensington and Notting Hill.

In south-west London, we work in Richmond, Kew, Barnes, Putney, Wandsworth, Clapham, Battersea and Wimbledon. North London covers Hampstead, Highgate, Camden, Islington, Maida Vale and St John’s Wood. In addition, we regularly work in Dulwich, Greenwich and Canary Wharf, and across the wider Greater London area.

Why Correct Installation Is Critical

Here’s an honest opinion on the matter: the brand of kitchen you buy is probably less important to the end result than who installs it.

🏆 A mid-range kitchen, fitted properly — level, at right angles, with all joints and panels fitting perfectly — looks more expensive than it actually is. Whereas a premium kitchen, installed sloppily, looks exactly what it is: an expensive kitchen that someone has rushed to put together.

⏳ Fitting problems rarely become apparent straight away. A door that is slightly out of alignment, a worktop that isn’t quite flush, or a cupboard that hasn’t been properly secured to the wall — over time, these flaws tend to get worse rather than be rectified. Cutting corners on installation doesn’t pay off in the long run; it merely postpones the expense.

💷 Installation costs usually account for between 15% and 30% of the total price of a kitchen project. People sometimes spend months agonising over the choice of worktop materials, with price differences of several hundred pounds, only to then settle for the cheapest installation option without asking who exactly will be carrying out the job. Given that it’s the fitting that determines whether the final result will truly match the sketch from the showroom, this is usually not the place to cut corners.
