Fitted kitchen installation in North London, done as one job

You’ve picked your kitchen. Now you need someone to fit it, and to sort out the electrics, plumbing, worktops, tiling and to remove and dispose your old kitchen in the skip.

You can probably imagine that this is usually four or five different trades, and you end up being the project manager. Most kitchen companies only offer a “dry fit”. They install the kitchen units and leave the site in this condition. Then you will need to find an electrician, a Gas Safe engineer, a tiler and a decorator, and trying to get them to turn up in the right order.

We do it as one job. Urban Kitchens handles full kitchen installation across North London, from Camden and Islington up to Barnet and Enfield. Our fitting teams run each job themselves and bring in our own electricians, gas engineers and plumbers when needed. One quote, one schedule, one team to call.

We’re not the cheapest way to get units on a wall. But you won’t have to manage five contractors, and you won’t be left with a kitchen that’s half-finished.

How much does kitchen installation cost in North London?

The range is wide because jobs are different. Some people only need the units fitted. Others want the full job: the old kitchen taken out, electrics and plumbing moved, worktops fitted, splashbacks tiled. The size of the kitchen, the layout and the state of the walls and floors all play a part too.

We’ll give you a fixed written quote once we’ve seen your plans and photos, or after a survey. It won’t grow once we’ve started unless you ask us to add something.

Kitchen brands we fit in North London

As independent kitchen fitters, we’re not tied to one retailer. Most of our North London jobs are kitchens people have already ordered from a big retailer and now need fitting properly. We know these ranges well, including their quirks.

We also fit German kitchens such as Häcker, Schüller, Nolte, Leicht and Rotpunkt, Italian kitchens, and bespoke kitchens from independent makers. If your brand isn’t listed, ask. We’ve probably fitted it. See all the kitchen brands we install.

Fitting a kitchen in a North London home: what to know

North London housing has its own habits. These are the things we plan for on almost every job here.

Victorian and Edwardian terraces

Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Highbury, Kentish Town. Lovely houses, but the walls are rarely straight and the floors rarely level. Older wiring and pipework often needs updating before a new kitchen goes in. We check all this at the survey, so it’s in the quote and not a surprise halfway through.

Side-return and rear extensions

A lot of North London kitchens now sit in a new extension. If your builder is finishing the shell, we pick up from there. It helps to involve us before the builder’s first fix, so the sockets and pipes end up where the kitchen needs them.

Mansion blocks and flats

Hampstead, Maida Vale, St John’s Wood and Highbury have plenty of mansion blocks. These usually come with rules: permission from the freeholder or managing agent, set working hours, lift bookings, and protection for shared hallways. Tell us early and we’ll plan around them.

Parking

Large parts of Camden, Islington and Haringey are controlled parking zones. We may ask you to arrange visitor permits or a bay suspension for the van. If parking costs apply, they’re in the quote, not added later.

Listed homes and conservation areas

Hampstead, Highgate and parts of Islington have a lot of protected homes. Replacing a kitchen inside the house doesn’t usually need planning permission, but listed buildings are different. If your home is listed, check with your council first. We’ll work to whatever they approve.

Why North London homeowners choose us

We’re London kitchen fitters, and we’ve been fitting kitchens and furniture in London homes since 2012. Our fitters aren’t a rotating list of subcontractors. They’re two established teams who know each other’s work and run each job themselves.

Gas work is done by Gas Safe registered engineers, and electrical work by qualified electricians. Our 12-month workmanship guarantee covers anything caused by how we fitted the kitchen: a unit that drops out of level, a hinge that works loose, a worktop joint that opens up. If it’s our fault, we come back and fix it at no charge.

We’re based in Chiswick, at The LightBox on Power Road, W4. Our teams travel to jobs across North London, and you’re welcome to visit us to talk through your project in person.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover all of North London?

Yes. Our kitchen fitters work across Camden, Islington, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield, plus nearby areas like St John’s Wood, Maida Vale and Stoke Newington. If you’re unsure or leave in a different area, send us your postcode and we’ll confirm.

Do you just fit the units, or the whole kitchen?

The whole kitchen, if you want it. That covers removing the old kitchen, plumbing and electrical work, gas connections, plastering, units, worktops, appliances, tiling, flooring and decorating. You can also book individual services, like just a worktop or just the disposal. However, our minimum project cost is usually starts from £1,000.

Can you fit a kitchen I’ve already bought?

Yes, and most of our North London work is exactly that. We fit kitchens from Howdens, Wren, IKEA, Magnet, Wickes, DIY Kitchens, B&Q and many others, plus German, Italian and bespoke kitchens.

How much does kitchen installation cost in North London?

Most of our kitchen installations come to between £2,000 and £6,000. Where yours lands depends on the size of the kitchen and what’s included. A straightforward fit of the units sits towards the lower end. Adding old kitchen removal, electrics, plumbing, worktop installation and tiled splashbacks takes it higher. That’s for the installation work, not the kitchen itself. We give you a clear written quote before any work starts.

How long does it take to install a kitchen?

Most installations take 3 to 7 days on site, depending on the size of the kitchen and the scope of work. Stone worktops need a separate templating visit and a wait while they’re made. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at the quote stage. If you are looking for dry fit installation only, it can even take 1-2 working days.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Usually 2 to 6 weeks. If you already have a delivery date for your kitchen, get in touch as early as you can so we can plan around it.

Do I need to arrange my own electrician or gas engineer?

No. Electrical work is done by our qualified electricians, and gas connections by a Gas Safe registered engineer. It’s all part of one quote, so you don’t have to coordinate separate trades.

I live in a mansion block flat. Can you still fit my kitchen?

Yes, we work in flats and mansion blocks all the time. Check whether you need permission from your freeholder or managing agent, and let us know about working hours, lift bookings or access rules. We’ll plan the job to fit.

What about parking? I’m in a controlled parking zone.

That’s common in North London. We may ask you to sort out visitor permits or a bay suspension. If there are parking costs, we include them in the quote so there’s nothing unexpected later.

Will you take away my old kitchen?

Yes. We remove the old units, worktops and tiles and dispose of everything. You don’t need to book a skip.

Do you need to visit before giving a quote?

Not always. For many kitchens we can quote from your plans and photos on WhatsApp. For larger jobs, or older properties where the walls and services need checking, we’ll arrange a survey first.

What guarantee do you give?

Our 12-month workmanship guarantee covers any problem caused by the way we fitted the kitchen. Faults with the products themselves, like a faulty door or appliance, are covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty.

Will using an independent fitter affect my kitchen warranty?

For most brands, no. Manufacturers’ warranties cover manufacturing faults whoever fits the kitchen. What they won’t cover is damage caused by poor installation, which is why our own guarantee matters. Check your brand’s terms and register your warranty. We’ve written more about this on our Wren installation page.

Can you just fit my worktops, or just take out my old kitchen?

Yes. You can book worktop installation, kitchen removal or any other single service on its own. However, please note that in most cases our minimum project cost starts from £1,000.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Chiswick, W4, at The LightBox on Power Road. We’ve worked across London since 2012, and our teams travel to kitchen installations all over North London.
